One of my all time favorite fall photos of one of the most beautiful places in Washington, the Enchantments region in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. I love how the larch needles litter the path.

Cresting Moon

I was extremely lucky to be able to capture the moon on my trip this past summer. Sleeping in a bivy next to your camera affords you some great opportunities for photos when you wake up to go pee in the knight. At that exact moment the moon was cresting the ridge line. Right time, Right place, even though it took 2 days of hiking off trail to get there.

We visited the MuTianYu section of the Great Wall on Friday. There are some amazingly steep sections of this wall. Here Stac makes her way down the wall to the tram.

A shot I took when I visited China the first time, March of 2007. The weather quality was horrible. I got up super early to visit Tiananmen Square and it was closed because congress was in session. Posting cause Stac and I leave for China today (9/10/2008).

Ponce De Leon

The morning forecast was supposed to be a beautiful sunny day. I planned on running before church, when I awoke there was a fog bank all around my house and it was cold. Undaunted I geared up and headed out . After climbing a few 100 feet up the trail the fog broke and the sun shone gloriously; as I completed the loop and as I ran back towards home I ran back into the fog. The light was shining beautifully through the trees, what a gorgeous day. It pays to go running with your camera.

One of my all time favorite photographs I've been privileged to take. It was one of those moments that I love about outdoor photography, getting into the places that require effort, being at the right place at the right time and then having the serendipity to capture the moment.

Now that summer is "over", being that school is starting tomorrow, this was the best sunset of the year.
